In this article, I’ll share how to prepare bobbatlu.
bobbatlu or obbattu or Holige is one of the sweets that is made during festivals like Ugadi, Ganesh Chaturdi and Gudi padwa. These are delicious flat breads stuffed with the sweet aromatic stuffing of chana dal or toor dal.
In telugu language, these flat breads are known as bobbatlu or bobbatu. In kannada language, they are called Holige or bobbattu. In marathi language these are called as puran poli.

Ingredients Required
- Maida – 3cups
- Chanadal – 2cups
- Jaggery – 2cups
- Elachi powder – 1/2tsp
- Ghee or oil – 1/2cup
Preparation
- Add 2cups chanadal, water into a bowl and let soak for 1hr
- Add maida and ghee into a bowl and mix together
- Add water and prepare like chapathi dough
- Now keep adding oil or ghee in batches for 3times and mix continuously
- Now add oil on top of the dough and leave it for 30 to 45mins
- Chanadal is soaked perfectly, now remove water, add chanadal into cooker and cook for 3 cups water and cook for 5 whistles
- 5whistles later open lid and mash it completely
- Add jaggery and cook till it separates from pan, add elachi powder
- Now turn off the stove and prepare round balls and keep aside
- Now take a small portion of dough and roll like chapathi, keep sweet ball on top of chapathi and close it , again prepare chapathi shape with hand it self
- Now fry it on dosa pan both sides by applying ghee on both sides
