In this article, I’ll share how to prepare egg roll easy way. The egg roll is certainly Calcutta’s most recognizable and popular street food.

Kolkata egg roll is crazily popular among Bengalis and is sold in almost every corner of Bengal in the carts by the street vendors. It is also one of the most frequently served Bengali snack recipe by the popular restaurants and hotels in Bengal. 

Kolkata egg roll recipe is popular because of its unique taste, texture and simple flavours which invite people to have it repeatedly. Now a days, Kolkata egg roll is also sold outside Bengal by the Bengali restaurants because of its high demand and popularity.

Ingredients
  • Wheat Flour – 1 cup
  • Salt – 1tsp or based on your taste
  • Eggs – 4
  • Onions – 1
  • Green chillies – 2
  • Red chilli powder – 1tsp
  • Turmeric -1/2tsp
  • Oil or ghee for spreading on the roll
Method
  1. Add 1cup wheat flour to a mixing bowl
  2. Add little salt and mix together
  3. Keep adding water and prepare soft dough
  4. Close lid and let rest for 15mins
For omelette
  1. Add chopped onion, green chillies into a mixing bowl
  2. Add required salt, 1tsp red chilli powder, 1/2 spoon turmeric and mix together
Egg roll preparation
  1. 15mins later prepare chapathi’s with soft dough
  2. Now spread oil to a dosa pan and add chapathi and fry for 40 to 50secs on 1 side
  3. Turn chapathi to other side and add omelette on the top and spread oil round the chapathi, let cook for 2 to 3mins
  4. Then turn to other side so that omelette is also cooked, if needed can spread oil or ghee
  5. Then prepare rolls
  6. Rolls ready to serve, enjoy with tomato sauce
