Flax Seeds Powder

                                   

In this article, I’ll share how to prepare flax seeds powder. 

Flax Seed Podi is a super healthy and delicious chutney powder which you can easily make. This recipe is a good way to include omega rich flax seeds in your diet. Have this Flax Seed Podi with your rice with some ghee or dosa and paratha.

Flax seeds are also known as Alsi in Hindi , Agase beeja in Kannada, Aviselu in Telugu, jawas in Maharashtra and Gujarat, ali virai in Tamil. Many people do not like the taste of Flax seeds but in this Recipe flax seeds are mixed with chana dal and urad dal to enhance its nutty flavor.

Flax seed has many health benefits such as it helps in reduction of cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis, autoimmune and neurological disorders. They also have fiber, protein, magnesium, calcium, phosphorous, lignan among other nutrients and minerals.

Ingredients Required
  • Flax Seeds – 1/2 cup
  • Red chillies – 10 to 15
  • Coriander seeds – 2tbsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1tbsp
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt – 1tbsp
  • Tamarind – very little (based on your taste)
Preparation
  1. Add oil to heated pan
  2. Add 10 to 15 red chillies, flax seeds, coriander seeds, cumin seeds and fry for 3 to 4min
  3. Add curry leaves and fry till they are crisp
  4. Off the stove and let cool for sometime
  5. Add them to mixi jar, a tbsp salt, little tamarind and grind to fine powder
  6. Flax seeds powder is ready to serve
