In this article, I’ll share how to prepare palak dal easy way.
Dal Palak or Spinach Dal is a very simple yet delicious Indian dish made with lentils, spinach, and seasoned with few spices.
The type of dish that keeps your tummy and soul satisfied. I have just two words to describe this simple spinach dahl recipe – easy & delicious. This lentil curry dal goes down well with toddlers too.

Ingredients Required
- Toor dal – 1/2cup
- Palak – 1 bunch
- Salt – 1/2tsp
- Red chilli powder – 1/2tsp
- Onion – 1
- Tomato – 1
- Green chillies – 2
- Red chillies – 2
- Mustard seeds – 1/2tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1/2tsp
- Garlic cloves – 4 crushed
- Tamarind – small lemon size
Preparation
- Soak toordal, tamarind separately for 20mins
- 20mins later add chopped palak into soaked toordal, tomato, onion, green chillies
- Add water if required , close lid and cook for 4 to 5 whistles in high heat, 5mins in low heat
- 5mins later turn off the stove and let it cool for sometime
- Later open the cooker and turn on the stove
- Add salt, red chilli powder, juice extracted from soaked tamarind and mix and cook for 10mins in between low to medium heat
- For tampering add oil to another pan
- Add red chillies, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, crushed garlic cloves, curry leaves and fry
- Add tampering to palak dal and mix
