In this article, I’ll share how to prepare palak dal easy way. 

Dal Palak or Spinach Dal is a very simple yet delicious Indian dish made with lentils, spinach, and seasoned with few spices.

The type of dish that keeps your tummy and soul satisfied. I have just two words to describe this simple spinach dahl recipe – easy & delicious. This lentil curry dal goes down well with toddlers too.

Ingredients Required
  • Toor dal – 1/2cup
  • Palak – 1 bunch
  • Salt – 1/2tsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1/2tsp
  • Onion – 1
  • Tomato – 1
  • Green chillies – 2
  • Red chillies – 2
  • Mustard seeds – 1/2tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2tsp
  • Garlic cloves – 4 crushed
  • Tamarind – small lemon size
Preparation
  1. Soak toordal, tamarind separately for 20mins
  2. 20mins later add chopped palak into soaked toordal, tomato, onion, green chillies
  3. Add water if required , close lid and cook for 4 to 5 whistles in high heat, 5mins in low heat
  4. 5mins later turn off the stove and let it cool for sometime
  5. Later open the cooker and turn on the stove
  6. Add salt, red chilli powder, juice extracted from soaked tamarind and mix and cook for 10mins in between low to medium heat
  7. For tampering add oil to another pan
  8. Add red chillies, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, crushed garlic cloves, curry leaves and fry
  9. Add tampering to palak dal and mix
