In this article, I’ll share how to prepare andhra style pappu charu.
Pappu charu recipe is a simple traditional andhra recipe like the sambar. Today i'll show my way of preparing this pappu charu. It is very easy process that everyone can make easily.
I cook separately dal and vegetables so it gives perfect taste. Lets checout this easy process to prepare pappu charu/sambar. I am sharing my Youtube video here so it would be easy for you to follow.
Ingredients Required
- Toor Dal- 1/2 cup
- Tamarind – big lemon size round
- Carrot – 1
- Tomato – 1
- Green chillies – 3
- Onion -3 (small)
- Potato – 1
- Drumstick – 1
- Salt- 2tsp
- Red chilli powder – 2tsp
- Turmeric – 1/2tsp
- Coriander powder – 1tsp
- Coriander leaves
- Garlic – 6 or 7 cloves crushed
- Oil – 2tbsp
- Mustard seeds – 1tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1tsp
- Curry leaves
Preparation
- Add 1/2 cup toor dal into a bowl and clean once
- Add water and let soak for 20mins
- Soak tamarind for 20mins
- Add all vegetables chopped into a cooker, little water and cook for 3 whistles
- 20mins later add toor dal into a cooker and cook till 5 whistles
- 5 whistles later add it to mixi jar and grind to fine paste
- Extract juice from soaked tamarind, add more water into tamarind juice based on the sambar quantity you are preparing and keep them aside
- Meanwhile vegetables are cooked perfectly
- Add grounded toordal, tamarind water, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric, coriander powder and boil for 10mins in medium heat
- Add coriander leaves and mix
- For tampering add oil to heated pan
- Add red chillies,mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, crushed garlic and fry
- Add tampering to sambar and mix
- Ready to serve with rice
