In this article, I’ll share how to prepare prawn dum biryani.
Everyone love biryani. It can be made pretty much with anything. The real tasty biryani is in the making of it. Biryani can be made in a pressure cooker, but the real aroma of the biryani comes only when it is made in dum. I have shared many Biryani Recipes. This is one of that.

Ingredients Required
- Prawns – 250gm
- Basmathi rice – 1cup
- Onion – 3
- Green chillies – 4
- Tomato – 1
- Coriander leaves
- Pudina leaves
- Ginger garlic paste – 2tsp
- Salt – 2tsp
- Red chilli powder – 2tsp
- Turmeric – 1/2tsp
- Coriander powder – 1tsp
- Jeera Powder – 1/2tsp
- Garam masala – 1tsp
- Curd – 2tbsp
- Oil- 2tbsp
- Ghee- 1tbsp
Preparation
- Soak basmathi rice for 20mins
- For marination add cleaned prawns into a bowl
- Add turmeric, salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder, jeera powder, garam masala, ginger garlic paste, curd, coriander leaves, pudina, green chillies 2 chopped and mix all together and rest for 30mins to 1hr
- Meanwhile Fry sliced onions till colour changes and keep aside
- 20mins later boil water and add masala spices available and let rolling boil
- Now add soaked basmathi rice , 1tbsp oil, salt and let rice cook for 80 to 90%
- Transfer boiled rice into strainer and keep aside
- Now add 1tbsp ghee to a pan which we fried onions
- Add masala spices, chopped onion and mirchi and fry till colour changes
- Add chopped tomato, little ginger garlic paste, salt, red chilli powder and mix
- Close lid and cook till tomato is soft
- Now add marinated prawns and , mix all together
- Close lid and cook till prawns are cooked perfectly
- Now add fried onions, coriander leaves, pudina, add boiled rice as a layer and close lid and cook for 5mins in low heat
- 5mins later prawn dum biryani is ready to serve
