Sabudana Kheer | Saggubiyyam Payasam

                                 

In this recipe post, I’ll share how to prepare sabudana kheer/ sagguiyyam payasam.

It is a creamy delicious sweet made with sago, ghee, milk and sugar from the South Indian cuisine. It is also called as saggubiyyam payasam (in Telugu language) or sago payasam. 

Saggubiyyam payasam can be served as a sweet dessert after meals. Lets checkout the recipe. I am sharing my Youtube video here so it would be easy for you to follow.

Ingredients Required
  • Sabudana – 2cups
  • Cashews or dry fruits of your choice
  • Elachi powder – 1tsp
  • Milk – 1/2 litre
  • Jaggery – 1cup
  • Ghee – 2tsp
Preparation
  1. Add sabudana into a cooker and add 3cups water and cook for 7 to 8 whistles
  2. Add ghee to a pan and fry cashews
  3. Boil 1/2 litre milk along with 1/4th litre water
  4. Add 1 cup jaggery into a bowl and 1/2 cup water and let rest for 20mins
  5. Now add milk into cooked sabudana and boil for 5 to 10mins
  6. On the other stove add jaggery with water and let jaggery dissolve completely
  7. Add jaggery water into milk and cook for 5mins
  8. Now add fried cashews and mix
  9. Finally add elachi powder and mix
  10. Sabudana kheer is ready to serve
