Tomato rasam is a popular South Indian dish that is known for being equally healthful and delicious. In fact, it’s often served as a spiced hot drink that helps ease cold symptoms and digestion issues.
It is a vegan recipe that features juicy tomatoes, bold spices, and lots of ginger and garlic for an extra pungent, wonderfully tangy flavor.
While there are many different recipes for making a traditional tomato rasam recipe – this is by far the easiest to make and very tasty too.
It is simple to make and makes a perfect dish to have along with rice or even as a soup for the winter nights. It tastes great with all Fry Recipes, Chicken Fry . Now lets see this easy process. Ingredients Required
- Tomatoes – 3 or 4
- Onion – 1 sliced
- Green chillies – 3 sliced
- Ginger garlic paste – 1/2tsp
- Salt – 2tsp
- Red chillies – 3
- Jaggery – 2tbsp
- Rasam powder – 1tsp
- Turmeric – 1/2tsp
- Tamarind – little
- Oil – 2tbsp
- Coriander leaves
Preparation
- Add chopped tomatoes, green chillies, red chillies, rasam powder, tamarind, turmeric, 1/2 onion sliced, 1/2tsp ginger garlic paste into a cooker and cook for 3 to 4 whistles
- Later open cooker and squeeze them with hand or transfer them into mixi jar and grind to paste
- Transfer it to cooker and add more water , salt, jaggery and mix all together
- Boil for about 10 to 15mins
- For tampering add oil to heated pan
- Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and fry
- Transfer it to rasam and mix
- Finally garnish with coriander leaves
