Generally we prepare vada with uraddal. And this is long process of soaking and grinding etc and takes some hrs. But this bottle gourd vada can be prepared easily and instantly as mentioned above. One of my friends shared the recipe process and I tried this. And output is awesome.
It is an instant recipe. No grinding or no fermentation is required.
All my family members loved it, as it is very light to eat. And the best thing is that no chutney is served along to eat this. we can have them directly as we add green chilles in it. So why late lets get into the process of making these bottle gourd vada.

Now lets check out the ingredients and preparation of this bottle gourd vada/Sorakaya garelu. I am sharing my Youtube Video Recipe here so it would be easy for you to follow.
Ingredients Required
- Bottle gourd - 1 or 1/2 based on the size
- Rice Flour - Equal quantity of bottle gourd grate
- Salt - 1 1/2tsp
- Onion - 1
- Green chillies - 4
- Oil for deep fry
- Peel off the layer for bottle gourd
- Remove seeds and we are going to grate the remaining soft part of bottle gourd
- Now grate bottle gourd and measure it with any cup and transfer into a mixing bowl.
- Now with same cup add rice flour in the equal quantity.
- Add onion, green chillies and grind to fine paste
- Add salt and grinded paste into mixing bowl and mix all together.
- If needed you can add water to get the consistency that vada can be prepared.
- If in case you feel that the batter has too much moisture, you can increase the quantity of rice flour to reduce the moisture and mix all together.
- Now vada batter is ready. Add oil for deep fry in medium heat
- Make vadas and drop into hot oil and fry them till colour changes.
- Now bottle gourd vada is ready to serve.
